EVAN SHUVO is one of the prominent Bachata and Salsa dance instructors in the Midwest also known as “SUAVO” for his Smooth Salsa techniques. Although his passion for Salsa and Bachata started both at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University of his college life as an engineering student, it was not until 2009 when he truly turned his passion into reality by first introducing a new Latin night in St Louis. Club Europe hosted Salsa nights with help from Evan and introduced Tuesday as a prime Salsa night in the community. In August, 2009 Evan was crowned a champion of Bachata Competition held at Washington DC which led him to join many world famous artists in ensuing Bachata events. In the next few years, St Louis Latin community experienced a big boost in Bachata with its first ever Bachata dance group – "My Rhythms". As the Director and Lead Choreographer, Evan presented a number of Bachata performances at many venues both locally and nationwide. My Rhythms dance company was among the first Bachata groups to perform at many Universities and dance Congresses, namely the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, St Louis International Salsa Congress and DC International Bachata Congress. The group’s most recent tour includes cities such as Indianapolis, Memphis, Des Moines, Kansas City, Dallas and Washington DC.
My Rhythms is the first and continues to be the only dance team in the area to offer Choreography classes every Wednesday at Studio 42, for both Salsa & Bachata. In addition, Evan offers Group dance classes on Mondays at his home studio. He also offers private lessons on any night of the week, as long as an appointment is made at least 2 days in advance by contacting mylatinrhythms@gmail.com. Besides providing dance lessons in the area, Evan also hosts Salsa & Bachata nights - every Tuesday at Atomic Cowboy, 4140 Manchester, St Louis, MO.
Evan’s true motivation comes from the support of the community. In order to truly incorporate new and improved street dancing into the local scene, Evan also hosts many dance workshops with world famous artists. Every year, he attends a number of dance Congresses nationwide and works very hard to bridge the gap between St Louis and rest of the Salsa/Bachata nation. Evan Shuvo and his lovely partner Emily Merlo would be honored to help you with your dancing needs. Stay tuned to this website for lessons as well as information on ongoing events.
