St Louis Salsa Bachata

EVAN SHUVO is one of the prominent Bachata and Salsa dance instructors in the Midwest also known as “SUAVO” for his Smooth Salsa techniques. His passion for Salsa and Bachata started both at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University of his college life as an engineering student. In August, 2009 Evan was crowned a champion of Bachata Competition held at Washington DC which led him to join many world famous artists in ensuing Bachata events. In the next few years, St Louis Latin community experienced a big boost in Bachata with its first ever Bachata dance group – "My Rhythms". As the Director and Lead Choreographer, Evan presented a number of Bachata performances at many venues both locally and nationwide. My Rhythms dance company was among the first Bachata groups to perform at many Universities and dance Congresses, namely the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Washington University, St Louis International Salsa Congress and DC International Bachata Congress. The group’s most recent tour includes cities such as Indianapolis, Memphis, Des Moines, Kansas City, Dallas, Memphis, Atlanta, New York City and Washington DC.

Evan offers group dance lessons as well as private dance lessons throughout the week at various locations in St Louis as well as at his home studio in South County in St Louis. Evan also hosts Salsa and Bachata nights every Friday at Club Viva, 408 N Euclid, St Louis, MO.

Evan’s true motivation comes from the support of the community. In order to truly incorporate new and improved street dancing into the local scene, Evan hosts many dance workshops with world famous artists. Every year, Evan attends a number of dance Congresses nationwide and works very hard to bridge the gap between St Louis and rest of the nation. Stay tuned to this website for lessons as well as information on ongoing events.

IN A STUDENT'S VOICE

"I took bachata lessons with Evan for several weeks, and I love his teaching style! He dissects and isolates each part of every step and makes sure that the whole body, from the brain to the shoulders, to the hips, to the feet, is dancing bachata. I am still a beginner, but I feel so much more confident, connected, and free on the dance floor than before. Evan can turn your enthusiasm for dance into rhythm and technique very quickly. He has an eye for detail, endless patience, and a creativity and passion that make every dance lesson completely absorbing.

He is also generous with his time.. when he puts his dance shoes on, he can’t help himself… whether it takes 2 minutes or 20 minutes, he is going to make sure you learn what you came to learn.

No matter the reason you want to take dance lessons, you will love learning from him, and you will get more than your money’s worth."
